The Masonic Lodge

The Perfect Agreement Lodge, the oldest active lodge of the Grande Loge de France, founded in 1774, is opening the doors of its temple. Listed as a Historic Monument, it boasts
a library of 4,600 books and a workshop where Freemasons work. Freemasonry has played an important role in the life of Rochefort, a veritable crossroads
of sailors. La Fayette himself was a Freemason.
A visit to the Masonic Temple is ‘an invitation to travel through time and space, from the 18th century to the present day’ (guided tours only - book in advance at Rochefort Océan Tourist Office).
