Morning: Nature walk and meeting with a farmer
Guided walk with the Obios biodiversity association. Explore the slopes and marshes of Brouage to discover the richness of its flora and fauna. Along the way, meet a breeder of suckler cows called ‘La Grange aux bœufs’. He'll tell you all about his agro-ecological approach to marsh maintenance and his soil and water conservation practices.

    12pm - 2pm
Lunch: A gourmet break in the heart of nature
You can picnic or enjoy a snack and refreshment in the ‘Gîtes Beaulieu’ meadow, a Natura 2000 area grazed by hardy ewes.
This 12-hectare classified site offers an idyllic setting for a lunch break overlooking the Brouage marshes, a wetland area that has been awarded the Grand Site de France label, which aims to promote sustainable development and the protection of an exceptional landscape. The marsh is also in the process of being classified as a Regional Nature Park.

    2.00 pm - 4.30 pm
    Afternoon: Observation and awareness-raising
Observation of the pond and meadow with Fabienne Plissonneau, nature guide, and Anne Richard, botanist. Find out about the importance of this wild area, its fragility and the conservation measures being taken, in particular to protect the European pond terrapin, an endangered species.

    5.00 pm - 6.30 pm
    Late afternoon: Conference and discussion
Patrice Belz from the Conservatoire du Littoral will present the Conservatoire's action, involvement and history in the Marais de Brouage area.
Frédérique Tuffnell will then give a talk on ‘Biodiversity and nature-based solutions’. This presentation is organised by the association ‘Les Universités de la Biodiversité’. The mayor of the commune, Denis Rouyer, will present the partners supporting this day.

    6.30pm - 8pm
    Evening: Drinks and art exhibition
The day will close with a ‘verre de l'amitié’, a convivial moment to chat with the speakers. You will also be able to admire an art exhibition: paintings (Pierres d'angle association) and photographs (Le HIC association), highlighting the beauty and diversity of the Brouage marshes.

This event has been awarded the ‘50 ans de littoral en commun’ label by the Conservatoire du littoral.

Open to all - Equipment required: Walking shoes and/or boots, binoculars
