Like Cinderella, the heroine of this contemporary tale obeys her family's orders. She is a girl in excess. A child forced to become something other than what she is. She was born in an imaginary country, where sons are worth infinitely more than their sisters. So on the day she is born, when her parents discover in despair that they are going to have to raise a fourth daughter, they decide to overcome the disgrace of this fate by making the world believe that they have just had a boy. So Ella becomes Eli. Until the age of thirteen, when she is told she has to get married...

Inspired by the bacha posh (little Afghan or Pakistani girls who are dressed up as boys to make up for the absence of a son in the family), this fable at the crossroads of the intimate and the universal invites us to share Ella's thoughts, fears, doubts and dreams... Equipped with canvases, sheets, fabrics and curtains, two actresses tell us this story in the manner of children playing in their room. They draw us into a story with the air of an adventure film, alternating between narration and choreography to convey, with depth and poetry, the words of a young girl of today. An everyday heroine who, like thousands of others around the world, is fighting to exist in a land where she has no rights.
