A father and son from a long line of circus artists come together on stage to question the passing of the baton between two generations of artists. When simplicity meets the spectacular, giving shape to a clownish and moving theatrical fantasy...

Danny and Pepijn Ronaldo belong to a family of circus performers who have been thrilling audiences of all ages in theatres and big tops since the mid-19th century. Ronaldo, the father of Ronaldo, is in his mid-fifties. Lying in a bath, he fears that the successes that have made him a clown applauded the world over are no longer up to date. His mind brimming with melancholy, he plugs in an old tape recorder to let himself be carried away, once again, by the conquered laughter of an audience returned from the past.

Then his son appears, like a draught of fresh air entering through a window left ajar. Sono Io is trying to reconcile the two movements that form the basis of his identity: the traditional circus championed by his father and the contemporary aspirations of his youth. A mise en abyme combining real life and theatrical fiction, Sono Io ? bridges the gap between what unites and what separates the two artists. In a world of bric-a-brac, bickering follows balancing acts, straps, juggling and musical clowns.... This father and son travel the paths of their emotions. Together, they create a dialogue between the beauties of yesterday and today.
