A key figure on the French jazz scene and an inspired chiseller of pop production, Sylvain Daniel unveils his third album, SlyDee. This electric bass virtuoso, renowned for his innovative compositions, skilfully fuses jazz, funk and electronic music.

With Thomas de Pourquery, Julien Lourau and Laurent Bardainne, he has put his talent as a performer at the service of hedonistic, cosmic jazz. With Jeanne Added, Redcar and Camélia Jordana, he has explored energising pop-rock territory.

But with this new opus, the prolific artist once again takes the time to explore his very personal universe. To our great satisfaction. Under his own name, he has already released two critically acclaimed albums: Palimpseste in 2018, a tribute to Detroit house music, and Pauca Meae, a string quartet with narrator devoted to Book IV of Victor Hugo's Contemplations. The man is also an iconoclast.

In SlyDee, he summons up his founding references: he makes his compositions resonate with the great black music of Prince, Curtis Mayfield and James Brown; he shares his immoderate taste for the instrumental hip-hop of Slum Village and J-Dilla; he revives in his own way the acidic post-punk synthesizers of Talking Heads and Joy Division, as well as the electric, libertarian jazz of Herbie Hancock and Miles Davis. A euphoric cocktail, served up by a collective of musicians renowned for their improvisational talents. A unique experience, not to be missed!
