Nicolas Floc'h explores the underwater environment from an artistic point of view, offering an original representation of it. His work is at the crossroads of art and science.
A sailor and diver, Nicolas Floc'h lives and works between Paris and Brittany. He is a multidisciplinary artist born in Rennes in 1970. He currently lives in Paris. A graduate of the Glasgow School of Art, he teaches at EESAB, the Ecole Européenne Supérieure d'Art de Bretagne. He uses a variety of artistic media, including installation, photography, sculpture and performance. His work has been exhibited in contemporary art venues (museums, FRACs, art centres, etc.) in France and abroad.

He works with scientists on the theme of the marine environment, studying the colour of water. This collaboration gives rise to both artistic and scientific photographs, revealing the secrets of marine ecosystems. For this exhibition, he has studied the colours of the river Charente as far as the estuary. The artist photographs the photic zone (the aquatic zone of a lake or ocean exposed to sufficient light for photosynthesis to take place). Each river has a different colourimetry.
