4pm: Screening of the film ‘Fanzinat’ - Passion and history of fanzines in France.
A film by Laure Bessi, Guillaume Gwardeath and Jean-Philippe Putaud-Michalski.
Fanzines are hand-crafted publications produced against all odds by fans of niche or underground cultures. There's no doubt that fanzines are a very special - yet little-known - form of press and publishing. The film tells the story of fanzinat in France by meeting the men and women who made it and who are still making it. Science fiction, comics, the punk and rap music movements, graphic design, sport, tattooing, social issues... The variety of causes and themes embraced by fanzine activists seems limitless. A lesson in passion.
After the screening, a discussion with Guillaume Gwardeath will be an opportunity to talk about fanzines and the alternative aspect of independent labels, represented by the RAYON DU RIM nestled in the heart of the adult section of the media library.
