  • Fort Lupin is a fortification located on the south bank of the Charente, almost four kilometres from the mouth of the river. Built according to plans by Vauban, it was completed in 1689 as part of the defensive system for access to the royal arsenal at Rochefort.
In 1950, the fort was sold by the Navy and classified as a Historic Monument; sold at auction, it is now a private monument.

The fort can only be visited during scheduled guided tours. Booking is strongly recommended.
