Gustave, René and Fernand, three veterans still in the prime of life, defend their last bastion against the inrush of the other residents of the retirement home where they are ending their lives, with the same ardour as they once did against the enemy. Gustave, René and Fernand, three veterans still in the prime of life, defend their last bastion against the inrush of the other residents of the retirement home where they are ending their lives, with the same ardour as they once did against the enemy. Gustave is the loudmouth of the trio. He's been living there for six months and doesn't talk to anyone except his two companions, grumbling about everything. René was born enthusiastic. And when he's dead, he'll make an enthusiastic corpse! Fernand, handicapped by a piece of shrapnel stuck in his skull, is obsessed with birthdays... They are intrigued by the wind that shakes the poplars on the hill opposite... why not flee to the poplar hill?

‘Le repas des fauves’ Saturday 5 April - 8.30pm and Sunday 6 April - 3pm

The evening is going well when two German officers are shot dead at the foot of the building. Just then, SS Major Kaubach enters the scene. It was a pathetic and tragic moment. The commandant is ruthless and exasperatingly cruel.
Saving one's own skin at any cost, trampling on the rules of friendship and love and resorting to every indignity, is the backdrop to this uplifting, cruel and surprisingly humorous in camera story...
‘Vahé Katchadourian, of Armenian origin, spent most of his life in France. A writer and scriptwriter, he is highly regarded in the film world.
