Trained at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts, this son of a grocer from Marennes was architect for the town of Rochefort from 1881 to 1905. Although he is a forgotten practitioner today, he nevertheless left some emblematic works to be rediscovered. It was during this period that the city of Louis XIV and Colbert acquired new public buildings, including the imposing Caisse d'Epargne building, inaugurated in 1900.
