A 2-part event:
- 6.30pm: Conference on Serge Daney, with critic Emmanuel Burdeau at the Théâtre de la Coupe d'Or.
A true writer and thinker, Serge Daney was one of the most influential ciné-fils (to use his expression) of the XXᵉ century. Through the films that nurtured him and extracts from an interview with Régis Debray (the starting point for the show La Loi du marcheur), Emmanuel Burdeau (film critic, former editor-in-chief of Cahiers du cinéma and author of a biography of Serge Daney) will tell us about the itinerary of this great cinephile, his relationship to images, art and life.
- 8.30pm: Screening of Artistes et modèles at Apollo Ciné 8
United States / 1955 / 1h49 / Original version with French subtitles.
Serge Daney loved cinema and cinemas... and because he also loved to laugh, come and discover Artists and Models, a film by Frank Tashlin introduced by Emmanuel Burdeau, starring Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Shirley MacLaine and Dorothy Malone, hilarious in this comedy that captures the euphoria of 1950s America.
[Sandwich break] If you wish to attend the conference and screening, the bar area of the Apollo cinema will be at your disposal. We'll be happy to offer you a drink, but please bring your own packed lunch!
