On 17 June 1816, in Aix harbour, the frigate La Méduse, accompanied by three other ships, weighed anchor bound for Senegal. On 17 July 1816, the brig l'Argus found the last 15 occupants of the raft
on which some of La Méduse's shipwrecked crew had taken refuge.
