Section 34 of the Vélodyssée passes by Rochefort Océan: Châtelaillon / Rochefort

This section takes you from Châtelaillon to Rochefort. After cycling along the ocean, you reach the Charente river by the land and the peninsula of Fouras-les-Bains, from which you will have one of the best views on Fort Boyard!

This path leads you to Rochefort, and to its Naval Dockyard, the cradle of the frigate Hermione. Enjoy a nice pitstop there to experience a maritime adventure.

Our little tip : before going to the Charente river, go to Fouras-les-Bains, where you'll find the best view on the Fort Boyard !

Section 35 of the Vélodyssée passes by Rochefort Océan: Rochefort / Marennes

A route of 37.9 kilometers, after Rochefort you join Marennes, towards Ile d'Oléron. This course goes through the marshes, small canals where you will be delighted to see many protected birds ... the most amazing, are the numerous stork nests : they settle especially in this area of Charente-Maritime.

Finally, you reach Marennes, where you'll be able to taste the well known oysters

Stay vigilant towards Hiers-Brouage, where the road is a little chaotic.

Our little tip : leave Rochefort by crossing the Charente river by taking the passenger boats: at the foot of the Transporter Bridge with the boat Arnodin to reach Echillais or the boat Le Rohan, a little further that serves Soubise. Do not hesitate to make a detour to the Madame Island, passing by Soubise and Port-des-Barques to taste oysters.
