‘We don't do the dishes, we'll do them later and go to the cinema’. Introduced to local cinemas by his mother at a very early age, Serge Daney, famous critic for Cahiers du cinéma and Libération, shares his love of the seventh art with us here. Reflections from a passionate and fascinating man. Theatre pays tribute to cinema!

Director Éric Didry and actor Nicolas Bouchaud have taken Pierre-André Boutang's 1992 film, Itinéraire d'un ciné-fils, and turned it into their own voice and thought process. Evoking his life, his travels, the cinema and the media, Daney testifies to what ‘seeing films’ has offered him about the world.
His words are an ‘Odyssey’, an archipelago of islands with evocative names: Rio Bravo, The Night of the Hunter, North by Northwest, Night and Fog... His travelling companions are John Wayne, James Stewart, Cary Grant, Buster Keaton, Jean-Luc Godard... Beyond the thoughts that run through his head, it is our place as spectators that is questioned and our own relationship to art.
Nicolas Bouchaud, alone on stage, magnificently reactivates these brilliant words, bringing them to life with his flawless performance. He powerfully embodies the extraordinary freedom of tone of this virtuoso storyteller. It's not just the elegant, playful language that gives him pleasure. Often funny and always accurate, this show is a magnificent lesson in cinema and life!
